Greetings and welcome back. The Death Korps of Krieg veteran guardsmen kill team for the Goonhammer Christmas Kill Team Challenge has been completed. I was able to capture the original paint recipe pretty well given the years that have passed between now and when I paint my first DKoK unit.
Here's a side that the enemies of Krieg should never see. There is just as much detail on the backs as the fronts of these models. I could go a little heavier on the weathering around the bottom of the great cloaks, but this will stand for now. It's a bit washed out in these pics.
So there we have it. I have another ten models ready to go at some point to round out the options available to a Veteran Guardsmen roster in Kill Team. But that will wait for another time. For today, we put another project in the done column, and another big stamp o' DONE in the blog.
Those cloaks look superbly weather-beaten! Did you use washes? They seem lighter than your last pics. The veteran with those medals is my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteThis latest set of pics is a bit washed out honestly. I was trying some new lights pointed into the light box and I think I over did it.
DeleteSee the DKoK tab above for the recipe, but its a simple base coat an wash, followed by highlights and then devlan mud (Agrax would likely be fine, or another brown wash) concentrated towards the bottom quarter of the coats.
I definitely highlighted/brightened the coats more this time then my initial Forge World squads (as shown in the blog title above). That was more an effect of time on my personal painting style.
I don't think you overdid it. The lighter cloaks look better imho. Like these guys have been in rain washed trenches for about 10 years!
DeleteLook forward to progress with the Custodes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, there will be a progress post up soon.
